Ripley's Jamya High awarded David G. Hall, MD Memorial Scholarship

RIDGELAND, MS, MAY 5, 2002: The Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Foundation is pleased to announce that Jamya High of Tiplersville has been selected as the recipient of a $1,000 college scholarship in memory of David G. Hall, M.D.
High will graduate from Ripley High School this May and will attend Mississippi State University this fall. She was ranked 5th in her senior class of 103 with a 4.09 GPA. At RHS, High earned the Outstanding Achievement in Accelerated English award and was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. She has been named to the Superintendent’s List and the Honor Roll her entire high school career.
This scholarship is open to all Mississippi seniors who possess an aptitude in the sciences and show an interest in pursuing a career in the field of medicine. To qualify for the scholarship, the student must write an essay describing the impact of a Family Physician in his or her life and/or the role of the Family Physician in the community. High wrote her winning essay about family physician Dr. Troy Cappleman of Ripley. Dr. Cappleman has been a member of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians since 1985.
“Consistently working with the same patients or families helps build a connection with the doctor and this is what I found with Dr. Cappleman,” High wrote in her winning essay. “He is just one example of how family physicians can benefit and strengthen communities.”
The Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (MAFPF) secures resources to enhance Family Medicine education and training to promote the wellness of all Mississippians. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP). The MAFP has almost 1,400 members consisting of physicians, residents and medical students. Corinth man charged with felony vehicle theft
PRENTISS COUNTY—On May 2nd, 2022 the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department charged Brian Edward Michael of Corinth with Felony Taking of
A Motor Vehicle.
He is accused of taking a 1996 Chevy truck from County Road 1021. The vehicle was returned back to the owner. The case will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury.
Justice Court Judge Kimi Kitchens set the bond at $30,000.00 for the felony charge.
